The Computer Lab 2003-2004

The Fort Garrison Computer Lab is a place for technology integration. We help students use technology to solve problems, create solutions, expand curriculum, and to better prepare them for the 21st century. Please look around and discover what's going on with technology and your children at Fort Garrison Elementary.

This year Fort Garrison received 33 new Dell computers from the county to help us reach the state goal of 5 students to 1 computer ratio.  On September 2, 2003, 30 of the new Dells will be installed in the computer lab, 2 will be installed in the
Library, and 1 will be installed in a common area for teachers.  Thanks to
our custodial crew, the existing Dells were moved into classrooms to increase student and teacher access to technology. All the computers are running the latest operating system, XP.  We are thrilled that now, every
classroom has access to a Dell and the Internet!

Also this summer, our media retrieval system was installed in the Library workroom. Using the network in our building, we can now access a bank of VCRs by using the classroom telephones.  Therefore, every classroom
in the school can view the same video simultaneously.  This system also gives us the capability to distribute live or taped broadcasts and messages throughout the school.
