The Courtney Siegel Foundation
"Courtney Leigh Siegel, a 5th grader at Fort
Garrison, was notorious for her smile and laughter, and nothing brought out
these features more than performing. Whether in chorus or in a play or even
on the athletic field, Courtney was always excited to be in front of a
crowd. When she took to the stage she always did it with gusto, regardless
of the fact that she didn't really have the talent to back it up. She may
have had a silent role in the play and she may have been an out-fielder in
softball, but her enthusiasm was never lacking. Her passion was purely
inspirational and that's why people related to her, even if they had never
actually met. On July 6, 1991, Courtney was killed in a drunk driving
accident. She brought her special light into every life that she touched. "
Courtney was born
on July 13, 1980 and she died on July 6, 1991. It was one week before her
11th birthday. The Courtney Siegel Foundation was created in memory of Courtney. This Foundation has helped countless other children to do the very thing Courtney loved to do- perform. The Foundation has made possible the purchase of risers, which have been used my our music department for all of our performances. We are pleased an honored that this year the Courtney Siegel Foundation purchased a much needed digital piano for our music department. Fort Garrison children, parents, teachers and staff wish to thank the Courtney Siegel Foundation and the Adler family for their continued and generous support of the music program at Fort Garrison Elementary School. The Fort Garrison Elementary School dedicates this page to Courtney's memory. |
