Welcome Back to School!

Dear Fort Garrison Families, Faculty, and Friends:

On behalf of the PTA, it is my pleasure to welcome you Back to School. Over the summer, the PTA executive board has been working diligently to plan a variety of programs and activities that support our children’s education and enable them to be successful in school and in life.

The PTA goals for the 2007-2008 school year are:

1  To provide our children with the knowledge, skills, and character necessary to become productive members of society through educational enrichment programs

1  To strengthen cooperation between parents, teachers, administrators, and the community in the academic, physical, and social education of our children

 We invite you to join us in achieving these goals. The PTA offers many ways in which you can become involved. Complete your membership form promptly, visit our web site regularly (www.fortgarrisonpta.org), and share your ideas with us. Feel free to call any of the PTA officers with questions or suggestions. We welcome everyone’s input and participation.

 I look forward to working with you. With your help and active involvement, we can enhance the educational experience at Fort Garrison and thereby make a difference in the lives of our children.

A few things the PTA does for Fort Garrison Elementary School…

1  Gives staff and teachers a Back-to-School breakfast

1  Provides all families with a comprehensive School Directory

1  Helps pay for Fourth Graders to attend Exchange City

1  Sponsors Cultural Arts Assemblies during school for all students throughout the year

1  Supplies snacks to all students during standardized testing

1  Promotes advocacy and appropriate legislation for our students and schools

1  Maintains a website, sends home a monthly newsletter, and creates the school yearbook

1  Publishes “Frontiers”, a literary magazine with submissions from all interested students

1  Facilitates student participation in “Reflections”, the National PTA arts program

1  Organizes After-School Programs for students (Robotics, Magic, etc.)

1  Supports the STEM Science Fair participants with essential supplies

1  Conducts Teacher Appreciation Week on behalf of all Fort Garrison families

1  Promotes Environmental Awareness during school-wide outdoor events

1  Offers exciting fundraising activities (Book Fair, Plant Sale, Family Night/Auction, etc.)

1  …and so much more!
